I AM WRITING A NOVEL

Charlotte is spending her thirteenth consecutive summer at Great Lake Sacandaga in upstate New York. A family tradition that’s been going on for decades, she anticipates this summer to hold all of the comforting traditions and show her something new. While enjoying all the activities there are to do on the water, Charlotte can’t help but wonder what used to exist before the lake.

Margaret and her family live in Parkville - a small town surrounded by ten communities in the Adirondacks just after the stock market crash of 1929. Finding her way as the daughter of a lumber mill worker and taking on unconventional responsibilities, Margaret invests herself in relationships and businesses in Parkville, only to find out that her home, community, and everything she knew will soon be flooded to create a man-made lake.

Swirling between the narratives of two young women comes a story of loss, love, adventure, and the painful, freeing lesson of letting go.
